How Do You Design
for Clarity in a Data Rich, Insight Poor Landscape
Biometric data in elite sports is both rich and plentiful yet often exists in digital silos that blunt innovation and limit performance.
Members of an early-stage startup witnessed this problem firsthand: As coaches, they lacked a unified platform to overlay diverse data streams, identify meaningful patterns, and translate raw information into valuable, actionable behavior changes.
Cove partnered with a group of entrepreneurial experts to take a powerful concept, a unified data analysis platform for high-performing athletes, and bring it to reality through a robust, intuitive, and beautiful digital experience.

Defining Product Strategy
We collaborated closely with the founding team to research the biometric sports and healthcare market and understand their vision for the future. By analyzing 4-5 main target users and comparing competitors, we gained a key insight: while we might be using many of the same backend technologies, we would need to separate product direction and positioning for the sports and medicine audiences.

We collaborated closely with the founding team to research the biometric sports and healthcare market and understand their vision for the future. By analyzing 4-5 main target users and comparing competitors, we gained a key insight: while we might be using many of the same backend technologies, we would need to separate product direction and positioning for the sports and medicine audiences.
Design Development and Testing
We created and tested 3 distinct design directions, compiling insights for the founding team. With this feedback, we finalized a design system that supported and strengthened their existing web app interactions. We also outlined next steps for their developers, including testing key components like a coach view for athletic teams and sleep data visualization.
Bringing it Home
With a clear focus on market opportunity and core customer needs, we developed four variations of critical interactions and screens, focusing on seamless usability, brand consistency, and delivering overarching value to users, such as the ‘drill down’ screen, where users can access granular insights into their performance. Collaborating closely with the founding team we honed in on a unified visual and user experience design language, providing a consistent foundation for current and future platform development.
